Securitas Security Report – Two representative present to report.

The new Securitas patrol officer Brian Marty was introduced by Ken Talkington of Securitas.

For the last month he reported the following incidents via written form:

2 vehicles reported as abandoned.
2 vacation checks were performed

The schedule for the upcoming month was given to Adrian.  Adrian noted that he has not see the regular patrol as frequently as he had in the past.  Other residents have noted this as well.

Ken reported that the vehicle is not detailed out yet so it is unmarked.  Adrian noted he will be discussing this with the supervisor as we need a marked vehicle so that security is “visible”.

Adrian asked Brian to please drive slowly so that residents and non-residents “see” the security patrol and so that he can get to know the residents and homes in the area.  He also told Brian that courtesy notices are really important to the Board for vehicles with wheels parked over the curbs, vehicles parked the wrong way on the street and vehicles that do not move for over 48 hours.  Brian was also asked to please watch the park.

Adrian also requested officer time sheets for January 2011.  This was the first month of paying a fixed fee and he wants to make sure we are getting what we are paying for.  Ken will email John for the information.

Brian was also asked to watch a home that is suspected of running a vehicle repair business out of their garage.

Renton Fire Department – For Fire District 40 news please see the FD 40 website.

Tally Hall of Renton Fire was present to report.

February is “Heart Month”.  They have been doing blood pressure checks and testing blood sugar levels for about five years now.  It is a very important screening process.  Over 4,000 people were screened last year.  Station 17 is involved in the program.  Crews are required to do monitoring and testing at least two hours a day during the screening time period.  He also noted that it is extremely important to call 911 at the first sign of a heart attack or stroke.  There are medications that can help if you get to the hospital fast!

If you are interested in CPR training please contact Renton Fire at 425-430-7000 for training schedules.  If any homeowner’s have an interest in a group CPR class, it is typically 10 people to 1 instructor.

He reported that there was a structure fire on 161st Pl SE – an exterior porch and multiple interior rooms were involved and also a vehicle fire on 144th Ave SE which was most likely a stolen vehicle that crashed.

Homeowner Appeals – There were no homeowner’s present and no appeals mailed in for review.

It was noted for the record that the homeowners that were in attendance last month and asked to submit their appeal in writing have not yet done so.

Community Events – Eileen Richards was present to report.  The Annual Easter Egg Hunt for 3-12 year olds will be Saturday April 23rd, 2011 beginning at 10 am sharp.  Bring your own basket.  It is usually over by 10:10 am.

The Annual Garage sale is June 24th – June 26th.  Eileen noted that the banner needs to be repaired for the garage sale.  Adrian moved, it was 2nd and approved to allocate $20 for the community event banner repair.

Security – Nothing further to report.

Minutes Of The Previous Meeting – A motion was made, 2nd and approved to accept the minutes as presented.

Financial Report – Barb Simeona presented the financial report.  It was accepted as presented.  All the funds in Chase Bank were moved to CD’s at Qualstar.

Treasurer’s Report –   Ray reported on the CD’s as noted above in the Financial Report.  He was also given the IRS transmittal form 1096 to sign.

The tax return for the Association is due May 15th.

Ray noted that he recently answered a question from a homeowner regarding the dues increase.

Architectural Control – No one present to report.

Common Properties – No representative present to report.  Adrian explained to the Board what has been going on with the lights in the front entryway.  The light issues were explained in the January 2011 minutes.

Pride In Ownership – Nothing until spring 2011.

Covenant Enforcement – Nothing until March 2011.

Renter Enforcement – Barb reported that the Renter Policy is now on the website.

Adrian and Ray will be going door to door to confirm rental homes.

Unfinished Business – There was no unfinished business to report.

New Business – Eileen spoke regarding the Lindbergh High School Pool issue.  It was noted that it is not within the Fairwood West territory however it does benefit the community as a whole.  It was noted that the only way the Association could participate in any type of donation to keep the pool open would be to put it to a total Association vote.

Ray noted that he asked a neighbor if they were interested in serving on the Board however the neighbor was too busy.  We need to solicit Board Members now.  If new Board members do not step forward the current Board will be forced to randomly draw homeowner’s to serve.

The meeting adjourned at 8:12 p.m. after a motion was made, 2nd and approved to adjourn.

The next monthly meeting of the Fairwood West Homeowners Association will be held on Thursday March 10th, 2011 at 7:00 p.m., at the Nativity Lutheran Church, 17707 140th SE in the portable building.

All residents are welcome to attend.

Respectfully submitted,
Barb Simeona
